Baby's First Newsletter

Or: A Brief Intro

Welcome!

Thank you all so much for subscribing to my newsletter! It means a lot to me that people want to hear about my projects! For anyone who isn’t already close to me, hi! I’m TK Jameson (he/fae), and I write short horror and long fantasy! I love using my writing to center trans men and polyamory as well as using it as a way to explore gender nonconformity. Although I’m still not 100% sure what I’d like to do with this newsletter, I thought I’d get a little intro out!

Currently Out:

If y’all haven’t already seen it, I was super lucky to get to work with the Cozy Library Press on their first anthology, DEAD COWPOKES DON’T WRANGLE! My short story HIGH NOON IN PROSPERITY is featured in the collection side by side with so many talented authors and artists and I am still ecstatic about being able to take part in it!

HIGH NOON follows two trans men and the woman that they both fell for. It’s horror tinged with desire and grief, and I’m glad that I was able to have it be my first published story!

content notes: blood, brief corpse description, brief dysphoria mention, codependency, death/murder of a partner, decapitation, dubious consent, explicit sexual content, grief, manipulation, power imbalance, unhealthy relationships, use of swords

Coming Soon:

I was also super lucky to get to take part in WE BITE BACK, a charity anthology curated by S. Moon with proceeds going to the Human Rights Campaign! The anthology was originally going to be released today, but there’ve been a couple of roadblocks along the way in terms of formatting and making sure the anthology is accessible to as many people as possible, so stay tuned for more info on when it’ll be released!

My story AND SO HE BLOOMED follows a trans man as he navigates an apocalyptic pandemic in the wake of his lover’s death. It’s written in a series of non-linear scenes from flashbacks to Savaric’s past as he tried to survive the end of the world with his lover, to his present as he grapples with loss and his own hopelessness. This one was very personal for me and kind of started out as a way for me to get out some OCD feelings, so please be gentle with yourselves if you pick it up!

content notes: brief mentions of ableism, death (main character, romantic partner, minor characters), gore, heavy themes of grief, implied self-harm (romantic partner), implied suicide (romantic partner), OCD, pandemics, unspecified mental disorder, vomiting

What I’m Working On:

Right now, I’m trying to get through revisions of KNAVE OF HEARTS so that I can get it out to betas! My plan is to have it ready by mid-end February, but that’s still subject to change because of my own mental and physical health! I will definitely keep any interested betas updated on any setbacks, but ideally, I’d like to have beta comments back within two months of betas receiving KNAVE.

If you’re interested in being a beta, you can fill out this form!

If you haven’t seen me ramble about KNAVE a ton, here’s the quick pitch I always throw on social media: After the destruction of his village, Felix journeys to the capital in search of answers and retribution. Instead, he finds himself entangled with the crown prince and the general in a web of secrecy and desire as they get caught in a conspiracy to take down the crown.

I’m also slowly working on drafting the sequel of KNAVE, PRINCE OF LOVERS! Where KNAVE focuses the most on Felix’s point of view, PRINCE will follow Cassian’s point of view as he grapples with secrets and reunions! It’d be awesome if I could have a draft of PRINCE ready this year, but I’m not being too harsh on myself about it because I’ve been working on KNAVE for over four years now.

Apart from my long projects, I also have a few shorts I’m bouncing around between. I’ve got an erotic horror following a man being haunted by his ex (who he killed), and I’ve also got a couple of shorts set in the same universe as KNAVE. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get more shorts out in the world this year, both in and out of anthologies.

What I’ve Been Loving Lately:

December was kind of a big slump for me in terms of just about everything, but I’ve been trying to get back into reading again. Some recent reads that I thoroughly enjoyed are Harper Hawthorne’s OF BLOOD AND AETHER and Taylor Hubbard’s THE FLOWERED BLADE. Apart from reading, I’ve been playing a LOT of Stardew Valley. I was gifted it on my switch over the holidays, so me and one of my partners started a farm together, and needless to say, we have both been LOCKED in. I’ve made fishing my whole personality in that game, and I have a fish shed and an unlimited supply of deluxe bait.

Thank you all for being here with me on this journey! I hope that the next time I send out a newsletter, I’ll have some more updates on KNAVE for y’all, but until then,

Farewell,

TK
